They have the talent to beat anyone in the league, but their play tends to fluctuate drastically. (7) London Spitfire – The London Spitfire are the reigning 2018 Overwatch League Champions. Still, the Dynasty have a good chance to make the top 8, but there are a few teams possibly standing in the way of that happening. They have the experience and the talent to be a tough team, but like the Fusion, they seem to lack the mentality needed. Only a shell of their former team is left and they have been up and down all of the 2019 season. (8) Seoul Dynasty – The Dynasty have never quite lived up to the lofty expectations that were on them when the Overwatch League first started last season. The team doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon and if they can keep playing solid Overwatch, they have a chance to not only make it into the top 8 playoffs, but also make a deep run towards the Grand Finals. They went 6-1 through stage 4, losing only to the London Spitfire. (9) Guangzhou Charge – The Charge are one of the hottest teams in the Overwatch League right now. It’s tough to tell which Philly team we will be getting this post-season. When they are at their best, they can beat pretty much anyone in the league, but they tend to play below their potential a lot. They don’t have a lot of weaknesses in their roster, but their greatest challenges seem to be the mental aspect of the game. (10) Philadelphia Fusion – The runner-ups from last season’s Grand Finals, you never know what team you are going to get when facing the Fusion. See also Dragon Age 4 Needs To Respect Our Awful Choices It’s tough to tell how the Dragons will do going forward but if they struggle with another new meta, their season will be ending quicker than they would like. Unfortunately, they have not been able to adapt to the meta very well and with the introduction of Sigma in the playoffs, the meta will be shifting once again. They ran through every team during their stage three playoffs in dominating fashion and the 2-2-2 role lock seemed like a perfect fit for the DPS focused team.
(11) Shanghai Dragons – The Dragons are a frustrating team. Going against the meta all year resulted in exciting matches with the Hunters, but to truly make it far they will need to clean up their often sloppy play. With a 13-15 record the Hunters need to show that they belong here. Luckily, they have another chance, but they will be facing off against the red-hot Guangzhou Charge. If the LA Valiant had won another match we wouldn’t be talking about them. (12) Chengdu Hunters – The Chengdu hunters barely got into these season play-ins. There are a lot of exciting teams in the play-ins and a few have the chance to make a deep run into the Overwatch League post-season. The six teams will fight for the remaining two playoff spots in a single elimination tournament. Overwatch League kicks off the 2019 playoffs with the 7-12 play-ins on Friday, August 30th.
